Being convenient and highly organized, traveling by train all over Europe is the best way to see the continent if you are on a tight schedule and want to pack in as many of the cities and sights as possible. The main reason for this is something called a rail pass and it is what makes European train travel one of the best and cheapest ways to travel the continent.

The main advantage of a rail pass is that you can plan way ahead, deciding ahead of time which specific cities you want to visit and the specific time span you want to partake of said tour. This will save you a great deal of money compared to buying a ticket town to town. It is like having the entire European rail system for your personal chauffeur service. Your town to town accommodation is taken care, comfortable and you are sure to get a decent meal in the dining car. This is a much safer way of traveling the continent, seeing the incredible countryside and it is advantages because it is also highly flexible. When you purchase a rail pass you have unlimited travel all over Europe within your chosen time frame and this applies too up to 30 countries.

You will have to reserve a seat or bed to avoid having to be on your feet during your trips, but here again is the beauty of a rail pass and planning ahead. This way when you get to each of your destinations you can plan how long you want to stay there and know that your seat on the next train will be there when you need it. The money you save from using the rail pass can be used on the accommodation and miscellaneous expenses you will have in each of the cities or towns you will be visiting.

A continent like Europe that enjoys the history and thus the character that it has must be seen by train and appreciated in this way. If you travel by plane you miss out on half the experience and rail will probably, in the end be much less expensive. There are not only discounts when you opt for the rail pass option, but there are discounts for family, seniors, youths or students. European train travel is the only way to see and experience this beautiful continent and a better, less stressful vacation you will not have.
