If you plan on taking a trip to New York any time soon, one of the coolest things you can look into is New York train vacations. Some people love trains, some people not so much! I think you have to be a little adventurous and a little patient to take any kind of a slow(er) transportation like the train, but it can very well be a superb trip if you just give it a chance!
These are not the usual trains vacations one might be used to. For example, you could travel from Chicago IL to New York, which is about a 35 hour train ride and it is a mere $1,000 (depending on the site you buy your tickets from!). One great thing about taking the train is that it usually is not just a straight shot, unless you are really close to New York. This means you get to stop at various places along the way and a lot of the time you can actually get off the train if there is enough time to and venture around.
Some of these are one way routes like that of an airplane trip – Florida to New York, whereas others are multiple cities – Florida to New York to Vermont, and some are round trip – Florida to New York to Vermont to New York to Florida! It works exactly like an airline trip, but it is so much better because instead of being in the sky and seeing clouds, you are down below seeing rivers and lakes and oceans and mountain peaks and fields of green and colorful flowers.
